Open Water Fishing Season? Really?

April 1 is opening day for most streams and brooks in Maine..
well at least it's supposed to be..
this is what things looked like just a couple of days ago..
guess I'll wait a bit longer..

(I grabbed this image from a post on a fishing forum that I read..I don't know who took it but thanks!)

  1. Is that the arm of a hapless angler I see sticking out of the snow?

  2. Do you guys still have snow??? Unbelievable---it was 82 here today---my wife and I will be making a trip up the east coast in June and will be in Maine sometimes the middle of June--what is the June weather like in Maine?

    1. Yes indeed Bill..and another 5" last night..we might hit 50 this weekend..or so "they" say..

mid June "should be" nice..70's to 80's..cooler along the coast..but pack some foul weather gear as well... wet June's are not uncommon here..

  3. There seems to be no end to this winter. We see lots of ice- very little water.

  4. I haven't been since opening day. It'll warm up again soon, then I'll go back out. 36° water, 23° air temp, ice and frost on finger - but it was fun!
